about this crazy estimate process

It has been frequently suggested that I should streamline this process of requesting an estimate -- I'll admit it is an awfully involved process for a simple inquiry. But it is considered necessary for me to do my best job for you. Let me illustrate this way:

There are places that will put together a site for less than I charge -- but there is a big difference. Working with them is like placing a classified ad.

"Uh huh, um hmmm... yeah, we'll have 'em put a picture of a ham on it or something, yeah..."

"Be sure you spell my name right this time."

"Yeah, okay, bye."

You ordered a single page site with three pictures, ten hyperlinks and 1024 characters of text, and that's what you got. What more did you want?

this is the difference
Instead of just trying to fill a template with pictures and text, we'll start by looking at what the Internet can do for you, and what the appropriate course of action is according to your resources, budget, and ultimately, value.

Your site will be developed to meet specific, targeted goals, from square one. No boilerplates or borrowed templates -- your site will be 100% original with custom artwork designed to compliment your existing image. (We can also work on a new image, if you're interested).

checkmate
In essence, my offer is to teach you the game and orchestrate your first move. At this point we'll have already determined where we want to be (checkmate) and discussed various strategies that might be used to get there. The strategies may be dictated by the actions of the other pieces on the board, or altered by new information.

Your alternative is simply to hire someone to move your piece for you. Even if you should choose this route, you will get a far better result if you can provide them with information I request for a estimate. Take this advice in good faith, remember me if you get into trouble. You won't be the first.
