What does the Internet have to do with my business?
I mean really, we're just a small company serving local clients.

Whoever wrote that question was thinking that they didn't have anything to sell online, and they were right -- they don't. But the value of the Internet goes far beyond selling online. Start with e-mail. Nearly every employee at every business should have it and use it for work. It can be so much more efficient than the telephone or hard copy it's not even funny. Get with the program!

The second basic step is a web site for such a business. At the very minimum, you should be thinking of the Internet is the yellow pages of the future, and you shouldn't be missing. There's much more down the road, but let's start out one step at a time.

The third step, and it's a hard one for traditional business people to accept -- is to use the web site and e-mail in unison to promote communication between your staff and your customers. This is the gospel of the 21st century. Develop a relationship with your clientele -- listen carefully and think hard -- they will tell you all you need to know to succeed.

If it were simple to do, you could follow the above formula and be well on your way to success in the world of online business. But it can get a little sticky, and you might want some help.

That's when you contact me.
