Right: Nola and Bobbie
in the Utah desert

To me, the best vacation has always been a road trip. In August 2004 we
took Nola to see Bryce Canyon and the rest of southern Utah. In 2003 it was
Glacier Park and Seattle. The photo above was taken at a spooky, abandoned
gas station near Moab, Utah; the one below is near Monument Valley.

A
lot of people ask us how we manage such long trips in such a small car.
Well, compared to touring on a motorcycle, the Miata is quite spacious.
And with luxuries like a top, a heater and air conditioning, it's quite luxurious
as well. I find that I automatically stay quite alert driving the Miata.
Something about being elbow to lugnut with an 18-wheeler.

At the 2004 Car Craft Super Nationals in Minneapolis, MN. I was kind of
surprised that the little Mazda got as much respect as it did from the
hot-rodders. The parking attendant asked if it bites.

A scenic overlook in western Colorado that we happened on along our
way west from the Flyin' Miata open house.

Whoa, could use a little scrubbin' under the hood!
Cars get dirty enough on the highway -- I live on a dirt road...
